This image shows the wave model output from Oceanweather's Global Forecast
as contours of significant wave height (in meters) with vectors
representing vector mean direction (to which the waves are
traveling). The valid time is given in GMT - Greenwich Mean Time.
This image is updated once per day.
The winds driving Oceanweather's Global Ocean Wave Model
are derived from an assimulation of real-time buoys, ships, CMAN
stations, altimeter, and scatterometer measurements along with a
background wind field provided from NCEP's Aviation model. The
wind observations are incorporated interactively by a skilled
marine-meteorologist using Oceanweather's Wind WorkStation.
Tropical systems are added to the final wind fields using
Oceanweather's Tropical Boundary Layer Model.
